The shortest day of the year was meant to spent eating fresh baked gooey cookies and slightly chilled hot cocoa with marshmallows. It was meant to be light by candles burning in every room. The natural soft glow is welcoming and wholesome. We’re supposed to kiss loved ones under mistletoe and snuggle under warm blankets that were given as gifts. We were not meant to do what I did today. What was wake up with severe mouth pain and be forced to see the dentist. HO! HO! HO! Merry Suckfest.
First it took forty-five minutes just to find someone who took my insurance through the state. Which has only become harder since I got put on disability. As if our lives aren’t hard enough already, no one wants to put up with governmental red tape. I don’t blame them. I get enough red tape just thinking of all the presents I have to wrap. Thankfully, my hubby has the magic touch and the first name he pulls up for me is the winner.
I scheduled my exam for today. I went. Turned out I have two abscess teeth and the doc asks me if I want to keep my teeth. I say the first thing that comes to mind, “If it’s at all possible.”
Now I’m scheduled for root canals. Yippee!
He then gives me two prescriptions: one for antibiotics and one for pain, and sends me on my way.
I drop off the prescriptions and tell my sweet pharmacist I’ll be back in an hour. I have buy stocking stuffers. So, I go to Walmart. Shop. While I’m there the pharmacist calls me to let me know that there is a hiccup with my insurance.
To make a long story short (too late) I switched from insurances at the beginning of the month except my current insurance only got half the memo. This made my new medications very expensive. I called the insurance company to remind them that we were not living in 1984 and that, yes, 2 + 2 = 4. This allowed me to receive my drugs. I’m writing a little high right now. Can you tell the difference?
Because our Solstice got derailed, I will pour all my loving affection and holiday cheer into Christmas. Because by golly I NEED Holly Jolly Something! I’ll keep you posted on how that goes. We get to see the grandkids on Christmas Eve. (Super excited!!!) I’ll make sure to post a ton of pictures on Instagram. Until then, stay hopeful, stay safe.
