Should I Play God?

A heavy burden weighs on my shoulders as I write this post. Our cat, Smokey, is sick. She is constantly throwing up her food and has lost control of her bowels and bladder. The conversation of euthanizing her has come up and I am deeply torn. She does not appear to be in pain, but with everything going on I am worried she soon will feel the effects of her illness. She is almost thirteen years old. I wish she could make it to her next birthday, but I doubt she will. I don’t know what to do.

Have you ever had to euthanize a pet? I had to do it once when I was a teenager, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

I will keep you posted on my decision.

Edit: We decided to put Smokey to sleep this afternoon. At roughly 4:45pm on March 13, 2023, Smokey Tews died in my arms.
